This book was one of my favorites as a child and I still enjoy it. Raskin does a good job of developing the characters and creating a complex plot. A select group of people are invited to move into Sunset Towers on the shores of Lake Michigan. On Halloween Turtle Wexler accepts a dare to enter the old Westing mansion and discovers the corpse of Sam Westing. After finishing "The Parker Inheritance" earlier this month, the 11-year-old and I decided we must read "The Westing Game" to better understand the references. It was a little hard going at first, since it's not quite written for a read aloud. Lots of inner and outer dialogue from many different people can get confusing. But about a quarter into it, we hit our stride. This is a fun book. It's an edgy mystery for young readers, especially in the late 70s when it was published. I recommend everyon
