A revisit to a book I read long ago. It was better than I remembered and since I have visited Walnut Grove and waded in Plum Creek, I was able to actually accurately visualize and it made the book so much more meaningful to me. The fact that people lived through grasshopper plagues and harsh winters amazes me.

The Ingalls Family moves near the town of Walnut Grove, Minnesota living first in a dugout then in a house Pa builds borrowing against a future wheat crop. Unfortunately that summer a plague of grasshoppers comes and eats everything. This was one of my favorite series as a child and I still love the books. As an adult Nellie Olesen doesn't seem nearly as horrible as she did when I was a child. I can't imagine living with that many grasshoppers. The next four books are my favorites but I enjoyed
