I have such a greater appreciation for the Brooklyn Bridge. I enjoyed walking across it in New York when I visited years ago, but now I want to go again. It was a masterful feat of engineering at the time. It was incredible how it was built and how many were able to work in pressurized air and underwater conditions creating the footings and caissons (new word for me) that support the weight of the bridge on bedrock. All the nitty gritty details you'd ever want to know about the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge and the politics behind it.
I was surprised at the intense focus on Washington Roebling. I suspect this is because he left behind a much more easy-to-decipher historical record. I think coverage of the other two brothers would have been keen, especially of Charles, who clearly was the mastermind behind the scenes for the Roebling's Sons business.
