This is one of the most disappointing thrillers I've read in recent years. The premise is solid: a woman wakes up one morning in bed with a middle-aged man and has no idea who she or the man are, or where she is. It's quickly established that she's in London and suffers from both "regular" and anterograde amnesia, that is to say, she can't remember most of her past, and nor can she store new memories. Early on, a psychologist secretly convinces her to start keeping a journal, and thus, through t

Book club choice for November 2012. I enjoyed this book - it's an engaging page turner, and I looked forward to reading it every evening. I even stayed up far too late last night to finish it (yes, I regret that this morning! ). And what a disappointing ending it was! The book was clearly leading up to a big Reveal, a big Twist, but ... I saw this train coming from MILES away. I was hoping there would be yet another surprise at the end that would startle me, but ... no. It was cheesy and trite.

The ultimate Unreliable Narrator as a woman suffering from amnesia struggles to piece together her life by keeping a daily journal. The reader learns along with her but is able to think outside the story too which makes it a thrilling read. Couldn't put it down.

An absolutely crackerjack premise, well-executed. I somewhat wish that the ultimate denouement wasn't quite so easy to guess, but the lead-up more than makes up for the slightly weak ending.

This is an excellent book with a good hook to draw you into the book. The main protagonist, as the result of an accident cannot remember things for more than a day so each morning when she wakes up she has to create all new memories. She relies on the man she is living with who says he is her husband to help her though vertain things begin not to add up. The author has created an interesting concept to play with and has carried the scenario out beautifully.

while not genre-changing, this crime novel is an intriguing read in the form of a journal written by a woman who wakes up each morning sans memory of the last 20ish years. how did christine lose her memory? and what's she been doing since then?? find out in our next revealing journal entry!...if she remembers to write in it. ...more

Pure, delightful, page-turning trash. I read it in two days, partly because I couldn't put it down (read it on the way to the bathroom and while I was on the can, that kinda thing) and partly because I didn't want to waste any more time than that on it.

3.5 stars; exciting thriller about a woman who loses her memory after she goes to sleep each night. I enjoyed it and would recommend it, but wouldn't make it a priority read.

I've concluded that this novel is just "not my style". The writing in this novel is very engaging. The plot is intriguing. However, after 30 pages, I found myself skipping to the end and reading the last chapter; and then, knowing how the novel ends, I lost interest in reading more of the novel. (The ending is unobjectionable.) I would have liked the story better as a novella or even a short story.

This left me feeling quite disbelieving, but it was interesting and easy enough a ready that I finished it fairly quickly. Nothing profound, the whole story hinges around the life of an amnesiac woman who begins keeping a journal in order to remember the memories she loses every day when she goes to sleep.
