I listened to the audio of this book and it was like experiencing it for the very first time - even though I had read the physical book nearly (ahem) 40 years ago. With the exception of an affectation with the voice of one character - I thoroughly enjoyed it!
This was super weird, but also lovely.
I didn't like it as a kid, and didn't get too far in. It was too foreign. Phantom Tollbooth was my limit. I still sometimes struggle with fantasy/sci-fi today.
Surprisingly, it seems L'Engle works much better for me as an adult. People seem to get prickly about the Christianity portions, but the story strikes me as more universal than that element, and I think that's proven by its success over the years.
