This is an astounding work of fiction.
I read about this book recently in SLJ. The author said she regretted making Linay an albino (because of the stereotype). I really don't think the author should regret anything.
Linay is a witch but he has many admirable qualities and some not-so-admirable qualities. He wants revenge as does the rusalka so in some ways he reminds me of Ahab. He is Death, a destroyer-of-worlds; a thief, a trickster, yet there is something redeemable in him. You only have to ...more
