Picoult specializes in this type of small-town moral quandary; it almost surprises me that she hasn't been named to a bioethics panel yet. This one isn't one of my favorites of hers, though - it had a serious hurdle to overcome with the subject matter alone (school shootings != entertainment in my mind), and I can't decide if the ending works or is a total cop-out. Although I swore that I would never read Picoult again, I couldn't help myself because of the issue that is the premise of her latest novel. A boy who is bullied shoots up a school, Columbine-style, and the book is about what happens after. Generally, schoolkillers commit suicide so we don't get a chance to find out what happens after they commit the heinous act. A good story. I found the ending a bit lacking. It was supposed to be a surprise I'm sure, but ended up being predictable, and wrapped up all too quickly.... I liked the story... but the ending was rushed.

Wow this book was amazing. I loved the characters and her writing is always so beautiful. I couldn't put it down.
