I was a little surprised to come to this site and see the sheer number of prominent bad reviews this got. I rather enjoyed this book, particularly for what it was (a YA paranormal romance). Stiefvater has come up with a wonderful new look at werewolves and used it with great effect to write a very atmospheric novel. If you are looking for good writing, a plot, and decent characterisation, move on. If you have the flu, have to spend a day or so on the couch with very few brain cells functioning, pick this book up, it'll be ideal, and that's exactly what I did. While i was reading this book I read a review that said it was like team Jacob version of twilight. Well said! It's not as addictive as twilight... Could be the writing style and that I did read and enjoy twilight first. I will however read the sequel Linger in hopes the fates have turned and it won't be as sappy as shiver. To be continued... ...more
