Another great work by Laurie R. King that I just did not want to put down.

One of the perils of having a long-running series is figuring out how to keep things fresh, and King does that very well here - I confess that there's something so simple-but-brilliant about the premise she lays out for Russell in this one. I'm also pleased to see the return of the international-intrigue element that made King's The Game one of my favorite books of all time.

In my defense, I was taking quite a bit of cold medicine at the time, but when I took a nap partway through reading this book, I woke up definitely convinced that I, like Russell, had amnesia. It's one of my favorite things when a writer can get into my head that way and make me really feel like I am part of the book in a real and in this case dangerous way! Beautiful establishment of setting, some great twists I didn't expect, another excellent installment of the series.
