A friend recently sent me an article listing authors that writers-to-be shouldn't read for fear of being convinced they can successfully write in that style, and McCarthy is one - this book definitely shows why. His style seems seductively spare, but under the hood it's incredibly complex and when you think about it you realize just how much work has gone into the choice of each word. ...more
