Overall, a decent read and well written book by Brown. It's about 3 sisters who come home to help their mother, who is ill. Each sister takes the opportunity to discover her strengths and weaknesses and how she wants to live her life going forward.
Shakespearean references abound in this book about a family that loves to read. In fact, the comments about "readers" are some of the most interesting that I read in either fiction or non-fiction.

Blech. Waste of time. Couldn't finish it.
Oh wait, I have one question. Maybe there's an academic term for this, I don't know, but the author uses a point of view device I've never seen before. There are three sisters and the narrator uses the first person plural as the main voice without ever distinguishing which sister it is. while the premise of the story and the tie ins to Shakespeare is entertaining, the author's decision to relate the narrative from all three sister's viewpoint is awkward and, at times confusing.

Family drama of 3 sisters and their parents, all with a love for books. Shakespearean quotes abound, but the story holds your attention and keeps you reading to learn more about their lives, what they've done and where they are going.

Rose, Bean and Cordy all return home supposedly to help their mother deal with breast cancer but they are all dealing with other issues. Rose's fiance has taken a job in England and wants her to move there. Bean was fired from her job in New York for stealing. Cordy is pregnant by an unknown father. The book was a bit predictable at times. The weird we narration took some getting used to. Also some of the Shakespeare quoting got to be a bit much.
