This was an almost-great book that I wound up greatly resenting. The writing is beautiful, I got the feeling that the author's intention was beautiful and that it was a work with a lot of heart. If only the author had taken that extra step to make me "get" it.

Slow start, but after I got past the first chapter, turned out to be one of the best books I ever read. Some books have something about them that really ring true in your life or a piece of reality that correlates to some challenge you have gone through in your life..., well this one spoke to me. I will me anxious to see her next book!

Julia Glass has presented readers with another novel that explores the relationships within families and friendships while it reveals to the characters the depths of themselves. Set in Greece, Scotland, and New York, this book tells the story of a father, his sons, specifically his oldest, and some friends of that son as they relate to him.
