After reading the first chapter at least five times over the course of two months, I finally got going and actually started the book. Not that the book got off slowly, but life, my life, just kept putting this one on the back burner. I really don't have words to describe this book. Likely the best author I have ever read. I still can't believe I came to Stegner through his commissioned book on the oil industry...not exactly classic Stegner. Though the story of this book didn't hit home quite as ...more
