This is a very solid middle grade book - no wonder it received a Newbery. It's funny, heartbreaking, full of action, adventures and mystery. Lots of comical characters but Sachar didn't write them in too much exaggeration.

I love the relationship between Stanley and Zero. And I love how the story is intertwined with each other and makes sense at the end.

I have watched the movie and after found out that Sachar is also responsible for the script, I can understand why the movie could do justice to ...more

Me: Why are there fugitives again in this one?
Clear multi-generational story + mystery despite the short length. I would have given this 5 stars but I'm hung up on the two people with the same last name who aren't related. ...more
