I had heard a lot of good things about this series and I am happy to say that it lived up to the hype. And I really enjoyed this, but I didn't love it. I did get more than a few Sookie Stackhouse vibes while I was reading this. The whole vamps exist revelation? Vamps mainstreaming? It did echo more than slightly of SS. But this deviates a lot, Merit is as much like Sookie as a breeze is like a hurricane and Chicago is a far cry from backwoods Louisiana. And speaking of Merit. I really enjoyed he ...more

Overall, I enjoyed the book a lot - more than I thought I would. Merit annoys me, so I thought it might be hard to get into, but I ended up reading most of the book in one sitting. I gave both this one and the first, Some Girls Bite , 4 stars, but in many ways I liked this one better (not enough for 4.5 stars though).

While Book 1 has the advantage of being our introduction to the people and world that Neill has created, I appreciated both Merit and Ethan much more in this one and thought the
