What Members Thought

I wanted to read more of John Green's books after becoming enamored with The Fault in Our Stars. Unfortunately, this earlier work isn't nearly as enjoyable or thought-provoking. Colin Singleton has just been dumped by a girl named Katherine for the 19th time. To help heal is broken heart, he embarks on a road trip with his best friend, Hassan, a self-proclaimed "lazy fatty."
Colin is a prodigy who wants to be a genius. He tries to formulate a theorem that will predict if someone will get dumped. ...more

What do I detest by the end of this book? Colin, and Hassan the main characters, most of the notable characters, notably Lindsey, as well as most of the notable language artifacts used - kafir, fug, and overfitted algorithms.
This book came recommended and I had high hopes, those were quickly doused and then stomped deep into the ground. Its over! Thank god! Next!!!

3.5/5 stars. My teen self would've enjoyed this book. If you want a summary or review, look at the many others listed on goodreads. If you want one from me...dingleberries!

As everyone else has said, by the end of this book, you're over all of the anagramming. It's a cool quirk of Colin's but it was so overdone. So overdone.
Also, the 'epiphany' and complete character development/realization occurred in the final two pages. No lie.
Not John Green's best. Going from Looking for Alaska to this was a bad decision on my part. ...more
