Another one I picked up at the office...

This is a fine book.

Plot: Sara Fitzgerald and her husband Brian decide to artificially conceive a child that is a perfect genetic match to to donate to their daughter Katie. Flash forward to a more than a decade later when Anna, the product of this action, decides to file for medical emancipation rather than undergoing yet another operation to help her sister's losing battle with leukemia.

This book was the most intensifyingly emotional book I have ever read. This book really tugs at a person's emotions. I literally had to take a deep breathe after I finished the book. One of the things I liked about the book is the author wrote it in a way that each character is telling his/her own thoughts and sharing his/her perspective on each little issue. The only thing I didn't like about the book is the ending. The ending sucked. I don't mean that the ending was poorly written or cheezy. T ...more
Vesra (When She Reads)
if you seen the movie, I say read the book. it's the same but not as much as you think it is.

I knew of this book for a while ow, but i didn't know what's it was all about, but of course, I ended up letting it piled up in my TBRs for the longest time. Until the movie came....

I found myself trying to read it through whenever I could. Th

I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. I got it for a book club, and picked it up while I was getting ready to go out one day, figuring I'd put it back down and leave. However, I was making myself late trying to read a little more, and so I took it with me and read obsessively all weekend. I thought the changing narrators was done well and was interesting, and the plot kept moving quickly and kept me interested. One caveat: I am a big hypochondriac so I am predisposed to like books ...more

This quote from Dorothy Parker sums up my feelings on this book:

"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."

That's exactly what I did when I got to the completely predictable (and incredibly disappointing) "surprise" ending. I really can't believe I persevered that long.
