Perhaps because I first saw the Netflix show, I wanted to jump straight to the courtship and marriage sections. Instead, this starts in childhood, which I was impatient with and largely skimmed. The memoir really takes off in Chapter 7 when she meets her future husband. From there on, I couldn't put it down. Feldman's writing is raw and beautiful and honest without being too much or sentimental. I'm planning to read her second book too.

Fascinating account that gives insight into the Jewish Hasidic world. What a strange & twisted & sad world overall it is; so much legalism & law & lifelessness wrapped up in lives that have missed The Messiah, the Jew from Galilee who came 2,000+ years ago in the historical person of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Yeshua--"the One who Saves"). Very well-written & engaging account of one who slowly extracted herself from this ancient world stuck in the middle of modern New York City.
