After reading this book I've come to the following conclusion: When people say that they only have time for movies, not books, they need to read a different type of book.
Sex in the City (the book) took me about 2.5 hours to read, the same time as a longish movie and I learned about as much as I do from a chick flick. It's rather obvious when you think about it. Pretty different from the show, but not as engrossing. Finished it in one weekend at the beach, definitely a breezy read.
I could picture the tv episode that came from each chapter of this book, but the book is very different from the tv series. I was disappointed not to have Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte as the central gal pal characters in the book. I still found the book oddly fascinating and a very quick read.
4.5 stars. For any fans of the Sex and the city franchise, this will be a fun read. I really enjoyed hearing Cynthia Nixon read this on audiobook and all it made me want to do is rewatch the show. But I was particularly impressed by the writing. I can’t wait to listen to Candace’s other books ASAP.
