The only good thing about this book that stands out is that I was reading it and came across the name: Christopher. I was in NW China (teaching English) and my wife Chris was in the US to have our second son..and I suggested in a hand-written letter (that took 2 weeks to arrive) that I thought Christopher would be a good name (since we'd not completely decided yet). Turns out it WAS the right name and our second son is named Christopher--though he has ended up going by Coco his whole life. Thank

amazingly contemporary, given that it was written 40 years ago. the depiction of nyc is dated, and i think we are little less inclined to let chemical dumping go unchecked, but the rest of the description of american places and attitudes is perfectly now. Favorite passage:

I'm not sure I got all the deep think parts of the book, but it was enlightening, entertaining, and amusing.

An entertaining piece of satire that shows Vonnegut's style well - I especially love how he throws out a simple definition of a well-known term that underscores just how ridiculous it is.
