My Antonia is one of those comforting books for me. I return to it again and again, and love it every time I read it. It has certainly profoundly influenced the way I think about life. One of the quintessentially American novels - Cather captures pioneer life in Nebraska in little vignettes throughout. From Antonia's immigrant experience, the urge of her native peers to escape farm life, and the community spirit of a small prairie town, it's hard to get truer than this.
