One of the best books I've read this year. Moving and so real. It feels like I've known Aibeleen, Minny and Skeeter all my life. Love it so much! Now I guess I'm gonna watch the movie. Hope it's not disappointing!

Amazing! Truly a wonderful book to read and so hard to put it down that I've been up til 1am the past four evenings reading it. Great characters, great storyline, and it leaves you feeling hopeful for humanity without glossing over reality. I am now anxious to read more books about the south and am curious how this story could be retold in modern times from the perspective of the immigrant culture in America and Europe doing such jobs today. Highly recommended.

I loved this book. The characters were so real--I wanted to read more after the book was done. I would love it if the author continued to write more on each character's life after the book--or even before it! This is a must read. It gives such a great perspective to that part of our country's culture and history.

I read this book in two days and enjoyed it quite a bit. As much as I liked it, it did seem a bit shallow for the topic though. It left the impression that the author, much like her character Skeeter, really doesn't have much of a grasp on race relations.

I thought this was a fantastic book! Makes you realize that the 60's weren't that long ago and hopefully people have learned something from those timee, but listening to the news it seems people never will.

Amazing. The book the term page-turner was created for. Horrifying and engaging all in one. I can't recommend this book enough.
