Absolutely wonderful, and just the right pace to keep my 9 year old AND 6 year old interested - instead of fidgeting, they asked for one more chapter one more chapter.

I read this book years ago, for a children's lit class in grad school. Thoroughly enjoyed it again.

A lovely story about ... well, whatever you want it to be about. For me it's about how a kind act is repaid a thousand fold, how a dog's love can transform your life, how if you open you heart you can make all sorts of friends. The reading by Cherry Jones is wonderful; she brings every character alive but especially India Opal who is full of love and joy and with such a big heart.
