I read this first back in high school and remember thinking it wasn't all that scary.
I listened to it this time around (voiced by the inimitable Michael C. Hall, the actor who portrayed Dexter) and again found it far more about grief and the way that we deal (or don't) with death and loss. It's a fantastic book that can be both a horror story and an exposition on life and death and the fear to be found in the grey in between. ...more
