This book is super beautiful!!!!!!! I thought Circe (first book of Madeline Miller that I've read) is good, but this one is incredible!!! Poetic, mesmerizing love story between Achilles and Patroclus. I never read anything about their relationship before so this book is very refreshing to me. The description of their haunting, tragic, but beautiful love story is in contrast with the cruelty, bloody, and chaotic war between Greeks and Trojans. This book tells a well know story from a different perspective. It is exciting and heartbreaking all at once and definitely makes me want to read more about Greek mythology. I really recommend this book.

Incredible book. There are parts that I could do without for sure, but I'm glad that I continued reading this one all the way through. Impossible to put down near the end, and even if you 'know' the story of Achilles I still highly recommend this version. Madeline Miller is an exceptional writer. I'd love to see more of this genre from her, even from different periods, anything. ...more

Amazing book, I loved it so much. I hope Miller keeps writing all these stories so I can experience them in a modern voice. These myths and stories are so intricate, so complex and so symbolic. There are so many layers and now we can enjoy them without wading through the seaweed of the language of antiquity. 5 million stars.

Fantastic! Beautifully written, lyrical in tone and epic in scope, I’ll be thinking about this one for a long time. It really is so good, if you like mythology or a well written story, read this book ASAP!
