The sticker on the front of my copy reads " We can't fake it. NZ blood needs you". A piece of clever placement advertising, and a comment perhaps on the success of this series that they think we'll all go out and donate after reading the book. I wonder if they have it on the tv version as well!

I think that this is my favorite Sookie Stackhouse book so far. It has more vampires, were animals and fairies then real humans. Sookie is recovering from her latest violent encounter with the vampire nation and hopes that things will return to as near as normal as possible in Bon Temps---but that is not to be. Kind of a big old trainwreck; held together well for the first 3/4 of the book, and the last 25% was totally unsatisfying. And weirder than usual.
Sookie is a bit of make believe but you have got to like her.
I love this series - read this book in less than 24 hrs and was very sad when it was over, since now I have to WAIT for the next book to be written and published. Eric plays a decent role in the plot, which makes me very happy. The tone of the book is similar to the others: lurking menace lightened by pop-culture references and joking asides. But this one ends on a surprising downer.
I liked this book ok, it just wasn't anything special. I kind of liked the introduction of fairies, but I wished we would have learned more about them and their world. And OMG Sookie decide which man you want to be with! Come on!!!!
