I really like this series, and have read some of the later entries, just not the first one. I have now corrected that, and love this book just as much as I did the others. In this one, Lily Bard wants to live a quiet life in her new town of Shakespeare, Arkansas, but when she is up late one night, she sees someone dumping a dead body in the park behind her house. This is my favorite of Harris' series. Lily is one tough cookie who strives to take care of herself. In this first of the series Harris gradually reveals Lily's past through her present , which makes her all the more interesting, and I'm looking forward to find out exactly why she decided on her chosen career, considering her intelligence and talents.

Fun, but ... turns out Harris's Lily Bard mysteries are no where near as good as the Sookie Stackhouse & Harper Connelly mysteries.
