I went back and forth between giving this book two and four stars and finally landed on four because I think it achieved what it was trying to do. It was a novel of true obsession and I would argue that passion was never really found.

Between fear... and sex... is the passion! Cheesy aphorisms like this are rampant throughout The Passion and for the most part, against all odds, they seem to work. I'm still not sure how I feel about this kind of magical realism, but this was unlike anything I've read before. At times I was amazed, at others I rolled my eyes. Overall though, an incredibly imaginative book.
