I enjoyed this, but found it fairly standard fare. I guessed who killed the old man pretty early on, and the other plot twists were a bit disappointing, except for one that was really clever and psychologically complex. But the psychology of some of the other characters didn't totally ring true, notably the female protagonist's mother. Darker than the series that I usually read, but very intriguing. I loved the way it went back and forth between WW2 and the present. I also didn't realize it was #5 in a series, so I look forward to going back to the first books.
