This is my third Dublin Murder Mystery novel - I'm jumping around out of order - and I think it is my favorite so far. I love how French's novels are plot-driven "whodunits" while also exploring deeper themes - in this case (as well as others, I suppose), that environmental or situational factors can endanger the sanity of even the strongest, most even-keeled minds. Detective Kennedy is put in charge of the murder of a father and two children, the wife has been seriously injured, with his rookie partner Richie Curran. The Spain family lived in a half completed development in Broken Harbor and there are mysterious holes in the walls of their house. The book started off really interesting but then it bogged down and I didn't like the ending at all.

French is one of the strongest storytellers working in mystery right now, and this one builds on her already superlative output to date. So much about this one is note-perfect - the incisive look at the impact of large-scale financial fallout, the playful and spot-on skewering of Internet forums, and the inability to answer the deepest questions of what's truly going on in another person's mind. French is an incredibly skilled writer that just keeps getting better.

This is my 4th book by Tana French and I still think she is an amazing writer. Her description of the development in Broken Harbor was so detailed i felt i was there. But this story just did not appeal to me as much as her other books. The three story lines did not gel together for me and i really did not enjoy all the info on how to get rid of large rodents living in the walls of a house. Still i will read anything she writes - Faithful Place was perfection.
