Ahhh what can I say - of course I loved this book. It hits on any number of tropes and themes that I love in literature, it has excellent prose, and the Greek, oh the Greek.
Beautifully written, structured like a Greek tragedy with great quotes and allusions to antiquity. No, the dialogue did not always seem plausible or appropriate to the decade, but I didn’t even care because the characters struck me as anachronistic anyway. No, they’re not likable, but you rarely have likable characters in classic lit, and these are the personalities that so influenced Tartt’s characters. Okay. Where should I start? Honestly I expected more on this book. I love Special Topics (Marisha Pessl) and so many people recommended this book when they know about my feeling toward Pessl's book. But turned out, it's too much lagging for my taste - big language and too serious convos, even though there are several great jokes and witty characters inside (I love Francis the most, he's so comical).
