A biographical novel written by the author about her grandmother whom she never knew. Her mestiza grandmother worked for French creoles on the an examination of the gender, racial, and cultural values found in the the various groups living in the Caribbean. A moving and emotionally packed work of fiction based on the facts of her grandmother's life as a multi-racial person in the Caribbean islands. It was a rewarding and interesting read.
