I just loved the Judge Dee books. I've only read two of them, but that's all my library had. Been over to LibraryThing Website and discovered a lot more. Looks like Interlibrary Loan Time.
Frankly, it's been a long time since I read these. I think I'm going to go for a reread.
I love the setting, history, authenticity, details of that time and place. That's one of the principle reasons I love to read. Judge Dee is quite a character, and so is his henchman. ...more

Bumping up to four stars for historical interest. I’ve always enjoyed van Gulik’s Judge Dee mysteries and now I have a greater appreciation of them.
