This is so exquisitely "Mandel" - I can't put my finger on what it is I love about her writing, but it's there. She writes so beautifully.
The story loops backwards and forwards in time, and is broken into four parts. Vacation book 3 - I love Emily St. John Mandel so much. It was great to read her first novel having finished her last one 2 months ago. She’s grown as a writer, but even her first novel was stellar.
I’ll read every book she writes. Her word choice, the zany but believable occupations of her characters, and the way all her characters braid together are enough for me. Even if the plot falls apart a bit (and I think it did here about halfway through), her writing is enough for me.
I really enjoyed this cleverly constructed novel which flits about in time, seeping out pieces of the jigsaw until the picture is completed
