One of the most surreal - and hysterically funny - books I've ever read. The plot (such as it is) is at times almost impenetrable, but never mind -- the verbal fireworks alone kept me reading. Rather than approach it with any expectations of structure, it's better taken in stride page by page, as a series of vignettes loosely arranged around a murder.

Funny, weird and VERY surreal. O' Brien's characters have startling theories about extending one's life, crime and the relationship between a man and his bicycle.
