I read this one in high school and listened to it on audio this time around. A great book, but in light of things that I've read over the years (eg, East of Eden, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), TKAM moves out of my top 5 list and down into the top 10.
I get it and liked it, but I felt like I was slogging through it this time. Maybe it was Sissy Spacek as reader - maybe it wasn't - who knows? All I do know is that the book didn't resonate with me like it did the first time that I had read it. ...more

I read this book first as a child. I grew up in the South and identified with the main characters. I appreciated it more as an adult and am glad I reread it.
