This book made me well up and cry - not a deep sob, but enough where I had to blow my nose as a result of it. What a lovely book. The story flits between the present day and Victoria's childhood with chapters ending on cliff-hangers which I found really compelling. If I'd been reading it at a weekend or on holiday I could imagine reading it in one sitting.

A heart-warming story with a not-too-sickly-sweet ending.

This book is in a class by itself. Not really a romance, nor flawed chasracter study, it blend an enigmatic central charcter with the sense that products of nature can provide meaning to life.
