I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit I read this. One feels sympathy for Hofmann, who falls in love with a Masai man she meets while on vacation in Mombasa. But why anyone intelligent enough to write this book would not investigate the culture and circumstances of their "beloved" before selling their business and running off to live in a village where it becomes clear that her physical and emotional health are compromised is not clear to me. Fantastic book, a real page turner.
However I really disliked the author/main character's behaviour in the story. I don't know what she was thinking or if she was thinking at all.

I thought this book was fascinating. I like to read peoples reviews and most everyone who read the book is very upset with the author for leaving Switzerland, giving up every modern convenience to marry a Masai warrior in Kenya. Not only upset but angry with her because she literally cause an imbalance with that society and the warrior.
