And now for something completely different by Christie - and my least favorite. A murder mystery set in Egypt in 2000 BC. Combination murder mystery/historical fiction (grimace). This is when opting to read through an author's books stretches you to read something you normally would opt not to read - like this book. Ooh.. it's been a while since I've read this book, I forgot how intriguing the story is. This is perhaps one of the more creative writings of Agatha Christie. She used her passion and knowledge about Egyptian archeology to write a mesmerizing, wonderful thriller set in olden days of Egypt. The characters are rich, and the dysfunctional family dynamics remind me a lot of her modern settings, but with historical touch that feels special. Love it. ...more

Christie tries to transpose Ms Marple to Egypt in a more acerbic form, then (view spoiler). This read oddly - I remember liking it when I was a teen, probably because of the exotic setting, but the British nature of the interactions was jarring for me this time round.
