Fourth time reading this, and I still really like it. Yet this time I less identified with Holden's plight and more looked at him from the perspective of a concerned aunt. I guess I'm all grown up now--but not a phony, I hope :)

I absolutely hated this book! I don't know why exactly, but I couldn't stand it, not the writing and especially not Holden... blech

I decided to re-read this book being that it was one of my favorites in high school. I'm about 2/3 of the way through now and it's funny how a few years can totally change your perspective on something. First of all, I've read more and seen more classic movies so this time around I understand a lot more of the references to popular culture in the late 1940s as well as the popular literature references.
