This book gets my nomination for the most nonfiction like novel that I have ever read. The only thing that qualifies it as fiction is that the author has imagined some of the conversations of the characters in situations where factual information is unavailable.

This book definitely deserves its status as one of the 1001 books you must read before you die. I think it was really hard for me to get into initially because of all the German and Polish words. After page 200 and with my trip to the Holocaust museum planned the book became easier to read and the story of Schindler and the Jews who worked for him propelled me on. I would definitley recommend this book but give yourself plenty of time to read it. It is not a book that you travel through quickly ...more
