My relationship with Elizabeth Gaskell is somewhat strained. I really like her shorter worksGothic Tales and Cranford, for example. I haven't had much success with the novels, and to be honest, I don't know why.

I love the BBC North and South (2004) so I’m not sure why I didn’t read this book sooner. I loved it! It varies a little from the movie if you have seen it. It reminds me of Pride and Prejudice, but with more differences between them, not in class but in business of lifestyle and their views of the workers vs masters. It’s beautifully written and a charming proper romance love story. 5 stars!
