Nice playing with words (which puts you a little closer to the characters) and somewhat interesting story but I didn't really fall in love with it as most have. There's nothing much to say really. I just didn't get the charm of Alex, for example. Period. ...more

Took me a chapter or two to get into the language style, but once I got into the groove the pages just flew. Rather dark, but absolutely amazing. Every bit as disturbing as the film.

I hated this book so much! I mean the writing was great obviously and all the elements of nadsat culture that made it whole (which made me wonder whether to rate it 5stars) but I felt sick the whole time and hated every bit of it (..or 1star). I guess that was what I was supposed to feel seeing as it was some kind of therapeutic author-within-his-own-work finding closure to his wife’s rape but i just felt like I didn’t need/want to be part of it.

maybe it was the wrong time in my life, but this was an unpleasant read.

This was a really unpleasant read, to be frank, and I can't claim to have 'enjoyed' it, but I couldn't help but be sucked into Alex's nadsat vocabulary, which is violent poetry, really, with its casual descriptions of horrorshow devotchkas, nozhes and brutal millicents. At times, the story is actually funny... and when I caught myself smiling a little, I wondered if I had entered too much into this recalcitrant teenager's evil mind of musical tyranny. ...more

This is a crazy ride! When violence is everywhere and youths are doing unthinkable things without getting any consequences. What a scary world. The tension of the story was added by a new language created by the writer, a slang called "nadsat", made this book one of the most confusing, thrilling, and unforgettable read I've ever had. ...more

Although I try to stay clear from fiction books with glossaries I also love senseless violent while singing show tunes.

Unique use of language, but I still find this book/movie to very overrated.
