I've never been to Paris. It's always been on my list of Places To Visit but primarily because it was Paris and it's on everyone's list. After ready this book, I have a better idea why someone would fall in love with Paris. Loved the descriptions of the people and places of Paris. She spends time detailing the cafés, the markets, the nooks and crannies of the city. While I like the ideas of mixing stories and the recipies that bring the story to life, I was a bit disapointed in Lunch in Paris. There were moments of great ex-pat realizations and tribulations as well as moments of stories not explored deep enough. Ultimately, I was left feeling like the author was with holding parts of the story, perhaps to protect the characters or herself. Great memoir with delicious recipes that tie the heart of the story together. I really enjoyed this light read. Made me want to visit France and find that "best" croissant.

I really enjoyed this book. Seeing some of the differences in attitude and life views of the French vs Americans was very interesting.
