This review is for the audio book version of The Night Circus, read by the wonderful Jim Dale. This review is also part of the "readers advisory for all" group read & review discussion panel.
This is a book where the main character is a dream sequence rather than a person. The author attempted to give us a premise to work with, but really could have gotten away with 300 pages of circus descriptions and probably should have just written a bunch of short stories concerning the people who are affect ...more

I really liked the story and all of the elements: magic, twins, a circus, a challenge-to-the-death and of course star-crossed lovers. Morgenstern blended beauty with tragedy and fear in a captivating way. I could certainly imagine myself there as a spectator. Very few books that I read have the ability to take magic and make it seem very possible and real. The descriptions were also very detailed and delicious something that I certainly appreciate. Bravo and looking forward to more of her work.

I looked forward to reading this book. Everyone seemed to be talking about it. It has even received a movie deal. The storyline sounded so interesting, full of a sort of mystical realism. I didn’t want to wait to get it from the library so I purchased the e-book for full price thinking it would be worth the money.

The Night Circus had a large promise of a great plot and characters. In my opinion it didn't deliver except in a few issues. If Imagery and love, is what you want in a book then this one is for you. Magic is dispersed throughout the book. Is it Harry Potter as some had said? No, it's not there needs to be more development of characters for this to happen. I gave it a three well, 2.5 since the scene is very beautiful.

I loved the creativity and the lush imagery of the world that the author created. This was not the strongest of plots, but it did allow me to visit this wondrous circus for a time, and I really enjoyed that. I recommend this book to fans of magical realism.
I listened to this as an audiobook. Jim Dale did a superb job of reading, and may be another reason why I was brought in so completely to the story.

I loved this book so much, I didn't want it to end! It's Adventurous, Mysterious, Exciting, Humorous, etc. This is one of those books that I definitely want to reread again...
