Would it be trite to say 'Momo' is a timeless tale? There is something familiar about this book, not only because you see the Men in Grey sitting around you every day at work, but also because it seems like the source of a lot of other stories that come later - your Pratchetts, Gaimans etc. At times the writing seemed a bit stilted but I have a feeling this may be due to the translation (I have the Maxwell Brownjohn edition).
