In the end, I really loved this book. It was slow for a bit, but all necessary for the story to come full circle. I had no "expectations" (pun intended) going into this story, and so I was pleasantly surprised by all of the twists and turns and how tightly Dickens wound the overall storyline.

I've attempted to read this book multiple times before, after watching the Ethan & Gwyneth movie. Over the years, its meaning of "great expectations" has stayed with me. Finally, I finished it via an audiobook.
It was relatable to see Pip navigating life - trying to figure out whom to trust, learning that love can be given freely, caring about social status, seeing beyond first impressions, etc.. Even the side characters are unforgettable. ...more
