Shelves: science-fiction, classic, literature, 19th-century
Some parts of this story (political and religious commentary) shine among others. However, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would or wanted to. The story feels measured and intelligent, not edge of your seat suspenseful or emotional. The sci-fi edginess of this 19th century novel doesn't translate well to a post-Star Wars, Star Trek, ET, Alien, Ender's Game world. ...more
