I suppose your reaction to this beautifully produced book depends on what you expect. It's basically an artist's sketchbook / journal of the year she spent in Japan (mostly Kyoto), although to call it a sketchbook isn't really fair. It's filled from cover to cover with boldly colored illustrations, mostly of nature and food. Not sure what her techniques are -- a mix of watercolor and pens I suspect. It's a series of snapshots that are more meant to evoke mood than represent or capture the cultur

Beautifully illustrated diary. I like her witty commentary & keen observation.
