Now this book is the story of stupid people being stupid. Nary a single creature in this book is likeable as each makes the others suffer more and more rather than improving each other's, or one's own, condition. Each strives to heap misery on misery. Glad I can get the cultural references and relieved at a semblance of happy ending, but this is hardly my favorite.

Honestly I think I just read this too old.

This is a masterpiece of classical literature that can withstand the comparison with any novel, modern or contemporary. And in my opinion stands amongst the best novels ever written. I consider also that Heathcliff is one of the best ever negative main characters from history of literature.
My copy of this book is in Romanian.
